The Data Analysis and Supporting Activities of the Second Decentralized Health Services Project (DHS-II) supported the Government of Indonesia in strengthening health service delivery within the country’s decentralized governance system. DHS-II was implemented by the Ministry of Health with financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under Loan Nos. 2074-INO and 2075-INO (SF). The project focused particularly on improving primary health care and health outcomes for women, infants, children, and vulnerable populations.
MADEP’s assignment involved studying the implementation of health programmes under decentralization, designing and conducting surveys, analyzing health data, and supporting the development of health information systems. The activities provided evidence to assess programme implementation and supported better planning, monitoring, and decision-making by health authorities.
The assignment covered several provinces across Indonesia, including North Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and Gorontalo, reflecting the diversity of health service delivery challenges across decentralized regions.
Through this assignment, MADEP contributed to strengthening evidence-based health planning and management, particularly by connecting field-level surveys and data analysis with improvements in health information and programme implementation.
